Tatyana El-Kour, MS, RD (Jordan)

"Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible" (St. Francis Asisi).

Tatyana is currently a technical advisor in the nutrition/health promotion and policy development of World Health Organization in Jordan. At the same time she works as a private clinical consultant in dietetics and metabolism in her country. Tatyana, currently serves on international committees to influence key global food, nutrition and health policy initiatives. As the first and only registered dietitian in Jordan, Tatyana was invited as a regional expert to present an international perspective on gender and nutrition in Islamabad, Pakistan in January 2007. She was also invited to participate in the Agriculture, Food and Biotechnology Research Cooperation between the EU and the Mediterranean Partners in Cairo in February 2007. Tatyana is a member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition as well as belonging to a several ADA DPGs including:

  • Clinical Nutrition Management
  • Nutrition Support
  • Pediatric Nutrition
  • Oncology Nutrition
  • Public Health and Community Nutrition
  • Business and Communication

Besides dietetics, Tatyana enjoys reading, traveling, swimming, playing basketball and riding horses.

Editha P. Heberlein, MS, RD, FADA (Germany)

"It is with great pleasure that I serve the American Overseas Dietetic Association. I feel especially fortunate to have this unique opportunity to know and network with dietitians living outside of the US with their unique needs, opportunities and challenges. We have the responsibility to move nutrition and dietetics to a better position in the international arena and one way is to support the most important resource we have as an organization, our members."

Editha is a Lieutenant Colonel of the US Air Force currently serving in Germany as the Global Health Liaison for the European Command. Her post is as the Team Chief, International Health Specialist for the European Command. Editha became a Registered Dietitian before she left the Philippines in 1978 and in the US in 1989. Her professional areas of interest are community and sports nutrition. She is a certified Health and Fitness Instructor with the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition to her many AODA leadership positions, Editha has also served on the Filipino American Dietetic Association's Nominating Committee and as Colorado Springs Dietetic Association's National Nutrition Month Chair. Editha is truly a world traveler and has had the opportunity to travel to all 50 US states, 45 countries, and five continents.

Stacia Nordin, RD (Malawi)

"AODA is connections and collaborations–together we can improve the world!"

Stacia has held many fascinating positions including time spent in the Peace Corps, but is currently working as Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Education's School Health and Nutrition Program in Malawi. Stacia, a US citizen has lived in Malawi since 1997. She lives with her precious daughter, Khalidwe whose name means "the qualities that we each contribute to culture" and husband, Kristof, whose name must mean something but she has never asked! Stacia has also lived in Jamaica from 1992-94. Her professional interests include sustainable food and nutrition issues, HIV and nutrition, and complementary therapies. She is a member of the Hunger and Environmental Nutrition DPG. In addition to leadership in AODA Stacia has served as Co-editor of the Permaculture Network in Malawi newsletter, Secretary of the Lilongwe Sailing Club, and Treasurer for the Nutrition Society of Malawi.

Jennifer Bradley, RD (Japan)

"I can't think of a better profession to be in! I can now share personal experiences with others around the world."

Jennifer's roots are in Michigan, USA, currently serves as a Flight Commander, Health Promotions (USAF) in Japan. Her passions are sports nutrition, health promotions, and diabetes. In addition to her new role with AODA, Jennifer has served the profession during her duty station in Dayton Ohio as Membership Chair, Nominating Committee Chair, President Elect, Dayton Dietetic Association, OH and as Awards Committee, DCE. She loves traveling to different countries to experience the culture. She has been to Spain,S. Korea, Japan, China, and Thailand. She has a dog named Kaleb, and a cat named Lilly. She loves animals, which has partly influenced her decision to be a vegetarian. She also enjoys exercising, in fact, has run two marathons. She signed up for the Tokyo Marathon and a triathlon. Currently she is working on her graduate degree in international health and emergency/disaster preparedness.

Becky Dorner (USA)

"I am so delighted to be involved with the AODA Leadership Team. I am constantly amazed at the incredible things that our members are achieving overseas. My goal is to be a communication link and support as an anchor from the states. Please contact me if I can be of help in any way."

Becky has owned and operated her own businesses for more than 25 years, supporting more than 20 employees. Becky's mission to improve care for older adults has inspired her to present almost 500 professional programs; and to publish more than 200 manuals, CEU programs and practical articles related to geriatric nutrition, food service and long term care. Her free email magazine keeps more than 20,000 health care professionals up to date on the latest industry news. Becky has held more than 15 board positions in local, state and national professional associations including ADA CD-HCF and NE DPGs, ADA House of Delegates and Research Committee, and the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP). Most importantly, she is a wife of 30 years and mother of 3 incredible children. Professionally, Becky enjoys writing, speaking and marketing; personally, she enjoys walking the beach, hiking, biking, spending time with her family and her two dogs.

 Mary Easaw-John (Malaysia)

Mary is the Chief Dietitian and Senior Manager, of Dietetics and Food Services, of Institut Jantung Negara (National Heart Institute) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She holds a First Class (Hons) BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Madras, Chennai, India, where her practical aspects of nutrition management won her The Fatima Akthar Award in 1983 for preventing malnutrition in a preschooler. Mary is the AODA Country Rep for Malaysia since 2004. She is the first Malaysian dietitian recipient of the International Dietetic Network STAR Award bestowed by the AODA for 2005 - 2006. Mary is one of the authors and editors of two other healthy recipe books Resipi Sihat, Pilihan Bijak (Healthful Recipes, the wise choice) Volume 1 and Volume 2. She authored the third cook book with Berita Publishing titled Meals without Guilt. She hosted her own cooking show on Malaysian TV1 in the Sarapan Pagi Series in 1996. She has made numerous presentations at seminars and conferences on various issues of nutrition and food services locally and internationally. She was the chairperson of Guidelines for Dietary Management of Hyperlipidemia 1999 and Medical Nutritional Therapy Guidelines for Hyperlipidemia and Hypertension 2004. Mary likes to read, travel and advocates healthy cooking.

Sara Midturi (Malawi)

Sara has spent the last 2 years living in Malawi with her husband and young daughter. Prior to this she worked in 2 hospital systems in Central Texas providing outpatient nutrition education/counseling. She also taught Introduction to Nutrition at a community college and was involved in the Central Texas Dietetic Association where she served as the legislative chair, president-elect and president. In her free time Sara loves to cook and travel and also enjoys exercise. She and her family are moving back to Texas in August 2008 but will likely move back overseas in the foreseeable future! She is expecting her second child in October 2008.

Naomi Trostler, PhD, RD (Israel)

"Sharing and spreading good nutrition and health practices to improve the quality of life of all people, in collaboration with nutrition professionals around the world, is my priority activity through AODA."

Naomi currently works with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Israel is her country of residence. Naomi's areas of professional (interest) Academic teaching of dietetics, clinical nutrition and related topics. She has Research areas – practice-based research in dietetics, outcomes of dietetic counseling; nutrition and health effects of westernization and immigration. She belongs to the Research DPG – Research; DEP. In her personal time, Naomi enjoys photography and travel memorabilia collection. Recent member of the Association Positions Committee (2004-2006); and currently member of the Diversity committee (2006-2008); member of ADA's research advisory board; member DPBRN oversight committee member. Member AODA's scientific committee.

Yiota Tsokkou, RD

"AODA is an international team that helps to make the nutritional/dietetic world to come together. Organization, teamwork, and respect for all cultural believes are represented by the Association and its members with vast success."

Yiota lives in Cyprus with her husband Chad Schou and works as a private clinical consultant. At the same time, she is involved with research about immunonutrition for trauma patients, which takes place in the ICU at the General Hospital in Nicosia.

The ADA Dietetic Practice Groups that Yiota belongs, includes:

Liliana Nannette Löderup, RD, CLE

"AODA is an extraordinary intercultural and global organization that offers its members the opportunity of working in a concerted effort to promote a healthier world."

Liliana currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden with her husband and four-year old daughter. She has previously lived in Tijuana, B.C. Mexico, San Diego, California and Seattle, Washington in the USA. Liliana enjoys traveling with her family and especially enjoys tasting the various cultural dishes that different countries have to offer. She also enjoys dancing ballet which she has done almost all her life. Liliana notes that one of the advantages to living in Stockholm is to see classical ballets in such beautiful "Kungliga Opera" in Stockholm. Liliana's professional interests lie in pediatric nutrition, women's health, and lactation. She is a member of the Pediatric, Women's Health and Reproductive Nutrition and Diabetes DPGs. She has served AODA as Member Services Chair for a two-year term and has began her second term.

Liliana currently volunteers in a Conference Committee planning a nutrition conference for Swedish Dietitians for Spring 2009.

Karen Campbell (Turks and Caicos Islands)

Originally from Halifax, Canada, in 2004 Karen Campbell and her husband Jeff relocated to the island of Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands, British West Indies. Prior to moving to the Turks & Caicos, Karen practiced at a large woman's and pediatrics facility in Halifax. 

Since arriving in the tropics, Karen joined ADA/CDR along with AODA, was involved with a school lunch program, the cancer society and preparing various materials for community nutrition education.

Karen is a busy mother of a toddler and a new infant daughter and enjoys the expat lifestyle.

Patricia Kramer, MS, RD (USA)

"AODA is an organization I am proud to be a member of, for many reasons, but mostly because of the international perspective of its members and activities. AODA has opened my eyes as to the global nature of many nutrition issues. AODA has also afforded me many benefits, including networking opportunities with many inspiring and dedicated, nutrition professionals and being able to stay connected to dietetics despite being overseas."

Patricia currently works as a Nutrition Specialist at the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was first introduced to AODA and its benefits while working as a Team Leader for the WIC Overseas Program in Lakenheath, England. England was her first overseas residence and before crossing the pond five years ago she lived in Colorado and Missouri in the US. Patricia's areas of interest include maternal and infant nutrition and community nutrition. She belongs to the Pediatric and Women's Health and Reproductive Nutrition DPG.

As a member I have enjoyed making new friends, experiencing different cultures, and having the privilege of being involved in exciting professional opportunities around the world."

Cindy is currently the Nutrition/Health Promotion Department Head at the Naval Hospital, in Rota, Spain. Cindy has lived in Spain for the past 13 years. She is also a member of the Diabetes Care and Education, Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists, Food and Culinary Professionals and Nutrition Education for Public DPGs. Cindy has also served as Speaker Chair for the 2001 AODA Alicante, Spain Conference and Conference Treasurer in for the 1999 AODA Conference in Limassol, Cyprus. Best Advice: Treat everyone as you would like to be treated and one wish is for world peace
